Abstract:

The basic idea of this work is the use of icons to represent the facts in an expert system, replacing the fact textual content. An Expert system Generator (GExpert+) based on the use of icons was designed and developed for this purpose in a Web environment. Its Inferences engine uses two modes of reasoning: the front chaining and the backward chaining based on simple but efficient algorithms. With its iconic interface GExpert+ allows any user to overcome any intermediary for the management and the use of its knowledge base. We use GEpert+ to create MedTrad+ which is an expert system for African Traditional Medicine where actors are often illiterate.
